SUMMARY

As our company is embarking upon the implementation of Skyfall and beginning to reap the benefits of Circle K as a global brand, we believe sharing ideas globally and leveraging specialized, expert teams are core strategic elements of our long term plan. We are looking for a candidate for Quality Assurance, North America. 

 

The Quality Assurance Director will be responsible for securing alignment, training, understanding, adaptation, and effective execution of Quality Assurance policies and standard operating practices.  Achieving the overall ACT business goals through effective product management and development following the preferred ACT approach for North America which he/she is responsible for.

 

This position is responsible to facilitate a high level of cooperation and communication within the given market area and to be the main point of contact for Private Brands, Global Leads and Business Units. Working on a daily basis in all areas related to quality assurance moving toward a best in class consumer offer that will establish ACT as the preferred destination. As such strong skills in food technology, restaurant knowledge, quality assurance, cooperation, leadership and communication are needed. Flexible working hours and travel to support business needs is to be expected.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

               Accountable for operational optimization for quality assurance in North America for ACT, continuous category operational improvements and new development support

               Key KPI’s: manage ingredient quality, consistency for all food operations including private branded products, supplier audits and validation of certifications, records / logs as appropriate

               Responsible for networking and coordinating with supporting functions and team members in North America as needed (Marketing, Procurement, Training, Packaging, Supply Chain, Analytics, HSE, Food Safety and others)

               Partner with Global Teams, Private Brands, Business Units, Procurement, Marketing and Suppliers in the development, monitoring and execution of our food offerings to include new and promotional products and product specifications

               Provide leadership, guidance, and training to Suppliers and Circle K Operations to improve and consolidate ingredients, as well as simplify preparation and processes

               Insure best practice relating to source and selection of ingredients, and sale of products while meeting all requirements for food safety, legality and quality

               Establish lean and effective processes for product recalls, testing, document management, reporting and QA best practice across the North America network

               Identify cost reduction opportunities and efficiency enhancement standards for all testing and pipeline products

               Collaborate with Suppliers to determine root cause of supplier-related product failures and follow-up for Supplier corrective actions and continuous improvement

               Conduct market research and competitive comparisons information of nutrition and ingredient trends

               Maintain database of product specifications for all food ingredients and components

               Manage projects and ensure product testing phases are followed according to timeline

               Develop/Track supplier quality metrics that drive decision making, including product performance and compliance, customer complaints, etc.

               Participate in product cutting with Food & Private Brand Teams, Suppliers and BU Operations to evaluate product quality

               Educate, train and coach all levels within the organization in QA best practices and compliance

               Assist with local adaptations and problem solving

               Be the main point of contact for the North America market area providing an open channel of communication

 

EXPERIENCE

Required:

•           Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, or equivalent professional experience

•           A minimum of 5 years food science industry experience

•           QA Ingredient operation supervision experience

•           Strong understanding of ingredient application

•           Practical experience with food labeling regulations and food composition methodology

•           Undergraduate degree in food science, culinary arts and/or related field

•           Ability to follow all Health & Safety standards

•           Demonstrates good judgement and decision making skills

•           Cross functional experience with ability to interface with multiple groups to develop and implement Quality Management Systems (QMS)

•           Significant experience and knowledge of GMP, food ingredient quality control systems and HACCP

•           ServSafe Certified

 

Preferred:

•           Experienced Project Leader with sound training methods, sharing knowledge, and facilitating 

            workshops

•           Knowledge of relevant Microsoft business suite software and other industry programs

                Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and written

•           Experience from working with consumer insights and product/concept/brand development

•           Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines

•           Possess a commercial mindset to constantly drive and move forward the success of the company

•           Thorough understanding of food equipment and safety standards

•           Passion for Quality – Takes personal responsibility for correcting customer service problems, consistently sets demanding performance expectations and sets priorities to maximize benefits

EDUCATION

• Higher relevant education (5 years)

• Fluent in English (oral and written)
