BI Reporting Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Information Systems, U.S., the BI Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of activities of the business intelligence team. This individual will manage the selection, development and enhancement of business intelligence and enterprise reporting systems as well as to plan, prioritize and manage the U.S. business intelligence needs across all business functional areas within the business intelligence group.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in establishing the strategy and roadmap for the scalability and performance of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and associated reporting systems to keep up with company growth.
- Gathers business requirements, promotes ROI and cost benefit analysis, specifying functional specifications and managing project plan, costs, risks and expectations.
- Prioritizes and effectively manages multiple reporting projects based on specific criteria and business requirements.
- Monitors industry trends and implement best practices to improve in-house capabilities.
Collaborates with IT peers to ensure
- ppropriate overall architecture of the enterprise data warehouse.
- Leads a team of business intelligence analysts and plays an active role in collaborating with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery.
- Administers projects to consistently meet cost, resource, time and goal expectations.
- Collaborates with data owners and subject matter experts from the businesses to ensure overall alignment of initiatives with business strategies and priorities.
- Participates in the establishment of department goals and implements procedures and performance standards to achieve these goals; manages, coordinates, monitors and evaluates the activities of assigned team.
- Provides technical direction to staff and analysts in other business groups on business intelligence architecture, environment and tool sets.
- Responsible for the employment, promotion, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling, and discipline of assigned associates.
- Provides initiative to stay one step ahead of the organization in leading positive change and optimization, driven by insights from the data.
- Works with IT peers to establish a data quality methodology documenting a repeatable set of processes for determining, investigating and resolving data quality issues, establish an on-going process for maintaining quality data, and define data quality audit procedures.
- Improves and streamlines processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value..
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of experience in data management required; experience should include:
experience in data warehousing and enterprise reporting including experience with very large databases. experience with direct supervision of employees. experience in managing data quality including data cleansing, maintenance and governance. experience using any BI tool set.
- Excellent leadership, project management and coaching skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong technical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of DW architecture and ETL processes.
- Detail-oriented, able to work effectively under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
- Able to work independently and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
- Able to interface with all functions at all levels within the organization; able to coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects based on business needs and requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, a related field or equivalent education preferred.
- Prior Retail Industry or multi-site experience preferred.
